EndSARS: BON, NBC disagree over N9m fine on broadcast stations

By Bashir Bello The Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria, BON has disagreed with the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC over N9 million fine slammed on three broadcast media stations, demanding for withdrawal of the sanction. Recall that NBC had recently slammed an N3 million fine on each of the broadcast media stations, Africa Independent Television, AIT, Channels TV and Arise TV for what was described as “unprofessional EndSARS Broadcast”. The BON Chairman, Sa’a Ibrahim while reacting to the sanction in a press statement made available to newsmen in Kano, demanded the immediate withdrawal of the fines pending when the media stations were accorded fair hearing to warrant such sanction. Anambra lifts curfew, reopens schools

FG disburses N6bn to poor households in Zamfara – Minister

Sadiya Farouk The Federal Government has disbursed over N6 billion to poor households in six out of the 14 local government areas of Zamfara under its Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) scheme in 2020. This was disclosed by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar-Farouk during the flag off of Grant for Rural Women Project, on Tuesday in Gusau. She said the CCT which commenced in 2016, was aimed at responding to deficiencies in capacity and lack of investment in human capital of poor and vulnerable households. “The programme is designed to deliver timely and accessible cash transfers to beneficiary households. “And sets to support development objectives and priorities, to achieve improvement in health and nutrition, school enrolment and retention, environmental sanitation and empowerment among others,” she explained. Residents Attack NAFDAC Office In Kaduna, Cart Away Fake And Expired Drugs

  Some Kaduna residents have attacked the office of the National Agency for Food, Drug Administration And Control (NAFDAC), carting away seized fake and expired drugs and beverages. The affected offices include the NAFDAC warehouse belonging to the investigation and enforcement directorate, as well as the training and research institute for the northern region and Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. The drugs were seized from illicit drug dealers and meant for destruction. Meanwhile, the Kaduna state government has warned on health risks from drugs and beverages looted from the NAFDAC office and other warehouses in the state capital. The council, in a statement by its Head, Information and Public Relations Division, Azeez Sani explained that the action was taken by its governing board, following the current turn of events in the country.
